STEM Educational System

STEM Educational System

STEM Educational System is the abbreviation of the first 4 characters of the four scientific subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). STEM is an educational system designed to integrate these four educational subjects into the basic curriculum, blending and connecting them.

The importance of applying this system

STEM prepares students’ minds to deal with contemporary science. As well as preparing and qualifying them for future jobs that require scientific expertise in those areas that are necessary today in many business fields. It includes all fields related to engineering, technology, science, and mathematics. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, jobs in science, technology, and mathematics grew by 17 percent in 2018, nearly twice as high as non-STEM areas, and the projected growth of jobs related to STEM would reach 9 percent by 2024, compared with 6.4 percent for non-STEM jobs.

How is this system integrated into the main curriculum?

STEM is different from other traditional educational systems in that it does not rely on memorizing and indoctrination. But to deal with realistic attitudes and creative methods of problem-solving learning. This is by actually integrating the problem and working to solve it. In doing so, it develops the scientific and practical experience of students in each of the four scientific fields in a sophisticated and effective manner. It also targets students from various primary, preparatory, and secondary levels to attend university studies specializing in these sciences. It also stimulates and develops the skills of surveying, analysis, negotiation, and critical and creative thinking among students, making the best benefits in the mentioned areas. Science and technology are explained and taught in terms of engineering with all its majors based on mathematical elements and calculations to achieve the joy of learning. According to the Rhode Island School of Design, which created this distinctive educational system, “it aims to promote true innovation that results from the integration of the scientist’s mind and technician with the mind of the artist and designer”.

School grades

STEM curriculum is designed according to the grades of the study in a way that suits the mental development of students as well as their ability to interact with the method of education where STEM system depends on the method of integrated projects in which different cognitive skills are used and applied. In the preparatory stage, the curriculum focuses on teaching mathematics, with intensive study of technology through experimentation laboratories, simulation, manufacturing, industrial arts, Computer-aided design (CAD), and. Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).

At the high school level, it focuses on teaching mathematics, chemistry, and physics. Adopting specialized approach in science, engineering technology, mathematics, biology, earth, space, etc., engineering design, mechanics, civil, electricity, etc.; CAD technology, manufacturing, production design, etc.

Why should I choose STEM for my children?

If your children have a passion for science and scientific skills, are looking to study and specialize in scientific and technological sciences in the undergraduate stages, or have a passion for future work in those areas targeted by STEM. This system is certainly best suited to them, their skills, and their aspirations. Other than motivating their scientific knowledge in these areas in practical ways, it also stimulates their creative, mental, and cognitive skills. This helps them specialize in those studies in the future, both at the university and postgraduate level. It also gives them greater opportunities and prepares them for future scientific careers.

Best careers provided by STEM for students

Since STEM educational system focuses on the four fields of science, including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It helps our students develop their skills and knowledge in those sciences and knowledge fields. This helps them to be optimally prepared to take up jobs in those areas in the future. Including engineering, technological and scientific careers: medical opportunities of various specialties, engineering, space and astronomy, and jobs related to technology, electronics, and computer programming. And many other opportunities and careers that help our children work in the field they aspire to and meet their scientific and cognitive passion and help them achieve their ambitions.

Therefore, Rowad Al-Khaleej International Schools are always striving to provide the best educational methods for our children. It also aspires to pave the way for them and opening up the prospects for a bright future for them. At Rowad Al-Khaleej schools, we spare no effort to achieve this and to provide the best and most efficient educational opportunities. Therefore, STEM is part of the curriculum adopted at our schools. It is among many other scientific and educational methods and activities that will prepare them to master scientific and educational skills and experiences in all majors of knowledge and science. We exert our huge efforts to build a successful, superior, and excellent future for our students as always expected at Rowad al-Khaleej International Schools.
